PUSS IN BOOTS – the purrrfect pantomime for all the family
**** Sorry, both matinee performances @ 2:15pm are now full – we still have tickets for all other performances ****
Back for our 56th season of panto, this year we are bringing you hilarity, hijinks and maybe just a little romance with the popular pantomime Puss In Boots, starting on 31st January 2018. Once again we have ten performances including two Saturday matinee performances.
Jack the Miller’s son has just inherited a cat. But this cat is no ordinary feline. And with the help of a charming fairy, Puss in Boots develops the power of speech; soon Puss helps our humble hero, Jack, on his way to fame and fortune. However, between Jack and fortune lies a terrible ogre, a wicked fairy, Jack’s bumbling, not-too-bright, brothers, as well as some rather large rabbits, not to mention a King and Queen in search of a wealthy son-in-law.
This show will be packed with every ingredient for the perfect traditional family pantomime. Expect larger-than-life characters, loads of laughs, a dose of slapstick, modern music, beautiful costumes, stunning dance moves, and of course…… plenty of heroes to cheer and baddies to boo!

Here is a sneak preview of some of the cast in rehearsals last week:
In a bid to sabotage this year’s panto, Sir Ferdinand Fox – a very bad fox – has kidnapped Priscilla, the golden egg laying Goose, and is holding her captive somewhere in the village.
We’re desperate to get her back in time for the panto, Mother Goose which starts on 28th January, and so we need everyone’s help to find her. Some of the lucky people who help us find Priscilla will win a free Ice Cream when they come to see the show.
Here’s how you can help: Sir Ferdinand has left two clues to where he has hidden her. All you need to do is solve the clues then go to either of the locations that you think Priscilla is being held, and just leave your name and contact details in the competition box to enter the prize draw.
Location 1: Priscilla is having a FEAST in Youlgrave.
Location 2: Priscilla has gone DUTCH in Pommie.
We’re extremely grateful for everybody’s help, so as a reward we’ll be providing five of the lucky people who help us locate Priscilla with two free Ice Cream vouchers each when they come to see the panto. The draw will be on 26th January 2015.
Thanks for your help and good luck!

The Chorus Auditions, held last Monday in the Village Hall were a great success! We now have 13 youngsters to add to our cast – and of those 13, 7 had been in a previous panto and 6 had not! This is really good, as it gives other children a chance to be in the panto, bringing new ideas and abilities with them and joining a very happy company.
Our new Choreographer, Kim Robinson, put them through their paces with a simple but effective dance routine, Director Nic Wilson set them a very amusing acting challenge and I gave them an easy way to sing an old favourite thus everyone had a good time “front of House!”
The real fun of the evening ,we later discovered, was in the Social Room, where the childrens’ parents and carers had gathered to meet the Backstage Team over a cup of tea or coffee, served with biscuits. It turned out that many of the parents had also been in the pantomimes themselves some few years ago and they had a wonderful “catch-up” session together! We also managed to recruit some of them to help with the next production, so – a really good night all round!
If you missed it and would still like to be involved in the show in some way, do get in touch through the Website or speak to one of the Production Team, we would love to hear from you.
Jan Wilson, Producer
